Guru Angad - Guru from 1539 to 1552

Guru Angad Dev Ji invented and introduced the Gurmukhi script that Guru Granth Sahib Ji is written in and made it known to all Sikhs. These scriptures are also the basis of the Punjabi language.

He started off the idea of self- less service for his Sikhs to follow and showed them the true way to devotional prayers.

He opened many religious schools and institutions for people to go to so that they could be more educated.

He collected information about Guru Nanak from Bhai Bala who was Guru Nanak's lifelong friend and then created his biography. As well as that he also wrote 63 stanzas to be written in Guru Granth Sahib.

He expanded Guru Nanak's institution of free kitchens where anyone regardless of caste, creed, colour or whatever else could sit at the same level and have free food.
