A Unique Way Of Seeing The World...
This website is not real, it is only for educational purposes.
Sikhi could be described as a spiritual practice. The guru (teacher) has given us technology to do that such as rehat which is waking up first thing and doing naam simran (reciting Gods name), this in return erases sins, raises consciousness and elevates the soul first thing in the morning.
There are 5 things that a Sikh needs to fight every day these are:
-
Kaam (lust)
-
Krodh (anger)
-
Lobh (greed)
-
Moh (attachment)
-
Ahankar (ego)
A Sikh tries to remember God throughout the day and live honestly by doing good deeds this then helps you to merge with the one. This could be said as a game of love where you have to be willing to give your head to the Guru between a Sikh who learns and Guru Ji who teaches.
Sikhi is a psychology i.e. Way of thinking and looking at the world.
Sikhs look at the Guru’s lives where they were fearless and shabad (sacred scriptures) to help with their lives. They were revolutionary so therefore their Sikhs should try to be the same.
Sikhi is wisdom for the whole world i.e. Jagat Guru – here to teach other people how to be better human beings in their own faiths and not to convert them. It doesn’t matter what religion or culture you belong to anyone can listen to this wisdom. Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice was unparallel.
Sikhi is a culture built up by the 10 Gurus to change people. A culture that comes with its own set of values such as freedom and equality.
Singing hymns are part of it the fact that Muslims have been allowed to sing in the Golden Temple shows this appreciation of arts by many different types of people.
Sikhi is a vision for humanity showcasing what life would be like if the guru’s were in charge. Not a world of Sikh’s but a world where everyone has the basic necessities. We have the resources to accomplish that but people need to fight greed, attachment and excessive amounts of corruption.
A Gurdwara is a place to learn this and apply to the world.
This vision is yet to manifest itself – more and more people are becoming aware of the truth and becoming Sikhs.
Sikhi is a revolution
Guru Ji gets rid of any idols and superstitions it is purely about the one. There is no priest or leader- anybody can lead the congregation.
Guru Ji wanted to liberate everyone therefore sword is also given to women. They said be above religion create a revolution where the human race wins.
Sikhi is simplicity
aa-ee Panthee sagal jamaatee man jeetai jag jeet – japji sahib
Translation
Take all the groups belonging to the “Ayee Panth” like that of your own i.e.
consider all equal (classmates, friends), and deem the mind-control (self control)
as conquering the world. (Aye-Panth - a Yogic sect considered to be superior to
all other groups. Jamaatee – of the same class or group, equal, friends, your own).
Guru Granth Sahib Ji is simplicity –It is joined by people of many different faiths, which means we should worship the truth regardless of where it has come from.
