Guru Har Rai Ji spent most of his time meditating on the name of God and preaching the teachings of Guru Nanak.

Even though he believed in peace he never stopped the Sikh army that his grandfather Guru Har Gobind Sahib had set up. He always encouraged them to work hard and do their best, he didn't involve himself in any political matters and instead devoted his life to preaching the teachings of Sikhi.

He always kept 2200 mounted soldiers with him at all times.

Once a group of Sikhs that were accompanying him asked him what the point was of reciting Gurbani (holy scriptures) when they didn't understand the meaning the Guru then waited a few days and said that "Even if we don't understand it, Gurbani is the seed of our liberation."  One day we will come to realise the meaning and then it will melt our hearts.
